Yanchengpu Station is located at the intersection of Dayong Rd. and Wufu 4th Rd. It has 2 exits, one on Dayong Rd. at the old Guangfu Cinema and the other next to Yan-Cheng Elementary School. The station is the new gateway to the Yancheng District and brings together the Yancheng district, Love River's West Bank, the Kuchan Shopping District and Pier 2 Art District.
Yancheng District was once the commercial heart of Kaohsiung and the old Kaohsiung City Hall was located in the area as well in what is now the Kaohsiung Museum of History. The west bank of the Love River is home to the Ren-ai Park, The Love River Park, the Yanchengpu Citizen Square, the Kaohsiung Film Archive and the Music Center, making it one of the city's key waterside recreational districts today. A variety of specialty retail streets can be found in the district. Sinle St. for example specializes in jewelry, Dayong Rd. in timepieces, Gongyuan 2nd Rd. in hardware and the Kuchan shopping mall… The Pier 2 Art District is an example of how old warehouse spaces can be converted into arts & performance spaces. It now hosts a variety of shows and performances throughout the year.
The Yancheng District renowned for its traditional eateries such as Rice Cake City, Rice Noodle King, Jin's Wunzhou Soup Dumplings, Jin's Minced Meat Noodles, Kuo’s Rice Dumpling, Aloha Chinese Stew Cuisine, A-po Ice, Gangyuan Beef Noodles and Dagouding Snacks. The local restaurants and pubs such as "La Memoire" and Shanghai Alleyways also boast their own creative spin. |
