Sizihwan
Station is the western terminal station
of the KMRT Orange Line. Located on the
intersection of Linha 1st Rd. and Linhai
2nd Rd., it has 2 exit on the
intersection of Linhai 2nd Rd/Lisyong
Rd. and the other at the old Kaohsiung
Harbor Station. The Sizihwan district
consists of Hamasen, Shoushan, Sizihwan,
Gushan Ferry Station and the National
Sun Yat-Sen University, so it is an area
with a strong cultural heritage and a
popular recreational destination.
Passengers can also transfer from here
to Cijin.
Hamasen was the first modernized street
to appear during the Japanese Colonial
period, so it has retained many
historical buildings. The ones near
Sizihwan Station include the Mountain
House, Old Sanwa Bank, Red Cross Center
for Children and Wute Hall. Even older
sites include the British Consulate at
Takao and the Hsiung-Jhen North Gate.
Both
Sizihwan and Shoushan Park have been
Kaohsiung's top traditional attractions
while the Shaochuantou Park and Ferry
Wharf are new developments. The Banana
Warehouse Ocean Viewing Platform and the
Kaohsiung Harbor Museum are recreational
and heritage spaces now opened to the
public by the Kaohsiung Harbor Bureau.
Apart from the traditional food stalls
at Daitian Temple, the most interesting
feature of the area is the restaurants
that have sprung up in redeveloped
historical spaces, including the
Mountain House, British Consulate at
Takao, "Dock No. 1" in Shaocuantou Park,
the Sizihwan Sea-View Restaurant, the
"Fisherman's Wharf" in the renovated
Jhan-2 Warehouse and the "Cape Café" in
the old Gushan Fish Market. Other
specialty restaurants and eateries can
also be found on both sides of
Shaocuantou. |
